Information about 100 km/h with unbraked trailer:

The rule is as follows: for unbraked trailers, if you want to use the 100 km/h approval (if registered), a factor of 0.3 applies between the towing vehicle’s unladen weight and the trailer’s permissible total weight (worst-case scenario). This means you need a towing vehicle with an unladen weight of 750 / 0.3 = 2500 kg for a 750 kg trailer.

If you do not have this, you can have the trailer de-rated (TÜV certification). For example, if your towing vehicle has an unladen weight of 1600 kg, the trailer must be de-rated to 1600 x 0.3 = 480 kg. You must then manage with the remaining payload, regardless of the towing vehicle or speed.

Furthermore, the trailer’s permissible total weight may not exceed the unbraked towing capacity (O2) entered on the vehicle registration.

On some car models, the trailer’s LED lighting may not function properly. This situation most commonly occurs with new car models, due to the low current consumption of LED technology. For the lights to work correctly, the vehicle or towbar needs to be fitted with an additional module supporting LED lighting. Lorries does not supply this module in production trailers.
